The Activ RallySport team Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX will be a notable absence from this weekend’s third round of the Australian Rally Championship in Coffs Harbour.
Team driver, Justin Dowel, and co-driver, Matt Lee, announced their reluctant last-minute decision to withdraw from the event following a team meeting to discuss the status of preparations earlier this week.

Positive signs for Dowel in Forest Rally

The overall result may not have been what Justin Dowel had been hoping for at the Quit Forest Rally in Western Australia, but there were plenty of positive signs to come out of the second round of the Australian Rally Championship.
Driving his Activ RallySport Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX, Dowel and co-driver Matt Lee took an outright stage victory, and finished in the top five in several others, proving their pace throughout the two-day event.

Highs and lows for Dowel in Forest Rally

Justin Dowel and Matt Lee have won their first stage in an Australian Rally Championship event, but have had a disappointing day in Heat 1 of the Quit Forest Rally, round two of the 2010 ARC.
Driving their Activ RallySport Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX, the heat started brilliantly for the Victorian duo, but mechanical problems put paid to a good result, and they finished the day in ninth place.

Slippery WA gravel awaits Activ RallySport

Activ RallySport’s Justin Dowel and Matt Lee will be hoping to build on their third placing in this year’s Australian Rally Championship when the Quit Forest Rally gets under way on Friday night.
Dowel and Lee drove their Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX to a brilliant third outright on the championship’s only tarmac round, Rally Tasmania, in February.

First ARC podium finish for Justin Dowel

Justin Dowel and Matt Lee have taken their first podium finish in a round of the Australian Rally Championship after a brilliant drive in this weekend’s Rally Tasmania.
They guided their Activ RallySport Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX over the event’s 18 tarmac stages, finishing behind only Scott Pedder (Mitsubishi) and Simon Evans (Subaru) on overall time elapsed.
